I bet you didn’t know that the hot dogs, brats, and sausages on your 4th of July BBQ grill probably originated in Iowa. On March 1, 2011 there were 19.0 million hogs residing in the Hawkeye State. This is about one-fourth of the nation’s estimated total of pigs. Source: USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service.

4th of July Steaks and Burgers

Texas produced about one-sixth of the nation’s cattle. That’s 6.8 billion pounds of beef, so if you have burgers, steaks or all beef hot dogs on your grill they most likely came from the Lone Star State. If not then they probably came from Nebraska or Kansas. Source: USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service.

4th of July Baked Beans

Are you having the traditional side dish of baked beans on this 4th of July? Chances are your baked beans came from North Dakota, which in 2010 produced 36 percent of the nation’s beans. Source: USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service.

While you are enjoying your 4th of July celebration, take a moment to reflect on this great country that we live in. This video is Lee Greenwood singing God Bless the USA. What a great song! This will put you in a patriotic mood!

Happy 4th of July to all my fellow Americans!
