Easy Breakfast Pizza Recipe
Breakfast doesn’t have to be the same old stuff all the time. Why not try pizza for breakfast? No, I don’t mean the cold leftover pizza from last night. This breakfast pizza recipe is something a little different and a good way to start the day.
Kids usually love anything with “pizza” in the title and this breakfast pizza recipe will get some good protein into them at the start of the day. We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day but too often we simply don’t have the time to make a proper breakfast.
Much of the work of this breakfast pizza recipe can be done the night before, or even days before. You can cook the bacon and sausage ahead of time and put them in the fridge or freezer depending on when you will need them. Of course, you can buy the cheeses already shredded. If you don’t have time to make homemade pizza crust, you can buy it frozen, in a can, or you can even use canned crescent rolls. This recipe is pretty forgiving. Try this Pizza Sauce Recipe.
Ingredients for Breakfast Pizza Recipe
- pizza dough (homemade, canned, frozen, your preference)
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 cup shredded Cheddar
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella
- 4 strips bacon, cooked
- 1/2 pound ground sausage such as Jimmy Dean’s
- 1/4 cup onion, chopped fine
Directions for Breakfast Pizza Recipe
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F
- Spread the pizza dough about ¼ inch thick on your pizza pan. Make the edges somewhat high so the egg doesn’t run off. You can also make thumbprints in the dough so the egg will settle in there.
- Beat the eggs and milk together and pour over the crust. Use a pastry brush to spread this mixture evenly over the dough.
- Add the cooked sausage.
- Add the mozzarella cheese
- Add the Cheddar cheese
- Add the bacon
- Place the pizza in the oven and bake it for about 15 minutes. This time is approximate depending on what type of dough you used for the crust. Keep an eye on it.
Breakfast Pizza Recipe
This is a variation on the breakfast pizza recipe. This one uses shredded potatoes for the crust and it looks wonderful! Pizza is so great because it is very customizable. You can use whatever meats and veggies that your family likes. You can leave the meat off altogether if you are cooking for vegetarians
