Chocolate Cupcakes with Chocolate Frosting are the go to snack for chocolate lovers! There is not much better than a double dose of chocolate when your chocolate lover needs something sweet to indulge that craving.

Keep a batch of these on hand for a quick pick me up. I freeze them for snacking when nothing else will hit the spot.

These are also the greatest kid pleaser at parties! Add some sprinkles or little candy crunchies and your cupcakes just became the hit of the children’s party!

If you have little ones, letting them lick the frosting beaters is always the fun part of helping in the kitchen!

Recipe for the Cupcakes

Chocolate Cupcakes with Chocolate Icing

Cupcakes

1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 cup buttermilk
3 heaping T cocoa
1 stick butter
1/2 cup water
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla

a. In a small bowl, dissolve baking soda in room-temperature buttermilk.
b. In a saucepan, melt butter and cocoa together at low temperature.
c. When smooth add water.
d. In a separate bowl, sift together sugar, flour, and salt.
e. Add cocoa mixture and egg and mix at low speed.
f. Add buttermilk mixture and vanilla dn beat until smooth.
g. Pour into lined cupcake tin and bake at 350 degrees for 20 mins or until toothpick comes out clean.

Frosting

1 stick butter
5 heaping T cocoa
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup milk

a. In a saucepan melt butter at low temperature.
b. In a separate bowl mix together cocoa and sugar.
c. Add melted butter, vanilla, and milk.
d. Beat at low speed until mixed.
e. Frost cooled cupcakes generously.
