‘Mo Money, ‘Mo Money and as the saying goes “you gotta be in it to win it”, and that’s exactly what these Millionaires who already had deep pockets did–they were in it and they won it.
Despite the fact they’ve have millions beforehand, didn’t matter, still I ponder?
- Was the money they already had not enough?
- Were they thinking about the “what if” I win, as deeply as–let’s say you or I?
To tell the truth my “what if” moment, is a list of things to buy, places to see, and bills to pay.
But if one already has the “moola” to enjoy these activities their “what if” factor doesn’t even come close to mine.
Okay, let’s get to it shall we. Some of these winners go back a bit, if you know of another millionare winning the lottery person(s), include it in the comments.
Keenan Altunis, who lived in Britain and an executive at the European banking firm Unicredit– won the New York Scratch off in 2008 at 33yrs old. What makes this even more “special” is that Keenan already a multimillionaire, was playing the “$1 million a year for life” game when it first launched, making him the first to win it.

U.S. Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner, heir to the Kimberly-Clark fortune, won not once but twice, for heavens sake. Where is the fairness you say? The already millionaire was born into a family of Kleenex tissue and Scott paper towels. Ooh, I love those Kleenex.

Louis Sgambellone won New York Lottery for millions, a few years back had previously won $10,000 on another scratch-off and continued to buy lottery tickets. After his first “big” win he won another $25,000.00 shortly thereafter.

Jack Whittaker won a $315 million Powerball jackpot in West Virginia, already a millionaire, he held a net worth of $17 million from his successful contracting company.

A very recent, Brian McCarthy (August, 2011), heir of the familiar Marriott Hotel Empire, won a cool $107 million dollar Mega Millions Jackpot, Virginia Lottery. ‘Mo money for the already seriously Millionare. Not using any personal lucky numbers, he chose quick pick (letting the computer pick them for him).
Mr. McCarthy reportedly, took the lump sum which totaled $68 million before taxes, guess he need it right away!
Despite all the attention, Brian McCarthy’s grandma is unfazed by the news. “I said, ‘Hey grammy, I won the lottery,’ and she said, ‘Good for you. You deserve it…I’m making a grilled cheese, would you like one?’
